A coalition of 66 entities from a variety of sectors within the European economy sent a joint letter to the European Council expressing concerns about the discussions on the proposal for an ePrivacy Regulation.

The letter warns against the overlap that the ePrivacy regulation will create with the GDPR, calling on the European Council to consider more closely the legal bases in the proposal and align these with those under the GDPR. The letter states the entities’ fears that rushing into negotiations without considering these legal bases may have profound repercussions for the European economy.
